The big winners in animated features of late go to Disneys Frozen and Warners The Lego Movie. With Frozen cracking the billion dollar mark without too much trouble. And now, we have newcomer Laika creating some truly original features with Coraline, ParaNorman and The Box Trolls (see the embedded previews).
But where does that leave Pixar? For the first 10 years they carried the torch, creating some of the most daring and original feature animation that we’d seen in a long time. Toy Story, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc and Ratatouille were all simply amazing films.
But that was the past. Dare I say it, but maybe Pixar have had their moment in the spotlight?
